Our Nature-Based Accelerator is ending on September 2nd with a much-anticipated Launch. At this event, the innovators will pitch their nature-based enterprise ideas. But who are they, and what are they working on? Read our short introduction blog series to whet your appetite. Next up is Justin Eade with Glimpse.
Glimpse: The Story
Justin is an accredited Occupational Health and Safety specialist, skilled in workshop delivery and ‘bite sized’ nuggets of useful wellness tips. Over the years he has continued to imagine what we could do to avert catastrophic climate change and support each other to stay well and feel capable of making a real difference. This is central to his development of new outdoor workshops in 2021 via his enterprise Glimpse. These will involve nature immersion in a variety of different ways providing a broad range of skills and training around wellbeing and health in nature.
Glimpse: Impact and Benefits
There are vitally important benefits to health and wellbeing when re-connecting with nature, in particular those associated with reducing loneliness, stress, anxiety, and depression. Increased skills and knowledge for participants and a creation of jobs is also what Justin sees as a result of his work with Glimpse. In addition to benefits for people, the workshops will benefit the environment through litter picking, raising awareness and helping participants take pride in and feel in part responsible for the considerate use of Glasgow’s outdoor spaces.
Glimpse: Collaboration and Connections
With his workshops, Justin hopes to first of all engage office workers who spend a lot of time by the computer, disconnected from nature. He wants to work with both organisations and self-employed individuals, taking the ‘Active Workplace’ idea further. Example industries include media design, communication, finance, insurance and call centres.
Glimpse: Why the Nature-Based Accelerator?
Justin joined the Nature-Based Accelerator for the perfect opportunity to successfully develop the ideas, enhance the offering and creating new collaborations. He wanted to be alongside other like-minded individuals and organisations. He believes that is what is needed to make the most of a long-term dream and passion, bringing it to a much wider audience and making a real difference.
