Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
There are so many people with amazing ideas and techniques offering involved learning experiences and finding solutions to specific problems by delivering creative, social and cultural workshops all over the world: from dance to photography, health to social justice, there are people passionately trying to reach their communities to inspire positive changes. It is through working among people like this – and being one myself – that I came up with my idea.
There are lots specific sites for specific fields that list or promote workshops but mostly there are individual people, groups or communities delivering workshops within their own sector accessing limited networks with varying degrees of success.
My Go Foundry is an end-to-end directory solution that puts workshop providers and participants under one platform, solving and shortcutting the journey between the two.
Starting in Scotland, My Go Foundry will begin by mapping out a body of practicing workshop providers. A provider’s hub where they can build income streams and showcase what they do, why, with whom and where. Easily editable and technically advanced functions will let users create their own profile, workshop and secured bookings pages. Images, videos, links and sharing options will create a strong visual presentation online that will help people in the private and business sectors see ‘what’s on’ in a dynamic and enticing format unlike any other listings site.
I believe in the power of involved learning to create positive changes in ourselves and in our communities and that it’s never too late to learn something new. In a fast-changing world and workforce, workshop providers are filling gaps in education, helping build new skills, empowering people and transforming lives. However, with a largely supply-led market, workshop providers may not be reaching participants or meeting current needs. By creating a one stop network and giving workshops a strong, easily accessible ‘face’, My Go Foundry aims to create an exciting tool and judicious demand-led sector.
