With the declaration of a climate emergency, and the increasingly obvious issues with plastic pollution, scientists have given humanity only 12 years to get our environmental impact under control before we start to face dire natural consequences.
Meanwhile, the UN has ratified the Sustainable Development Goals to drive significant global change by 2030, including a strong focus on minimising climate change and physical pollution, and the zero waste movement has gained enormous momentum amongst consumers over the last two years.
But businesses are proving slower to respond, even though nearly every piece of inorganic waste ever made was created because of a choice made by a business somewhere.
Many recognise the need to prevent and control waste, but find it difficult to navigate the sheer amount of conflicting information available, others are struggling with the scope and speed of change required.
Zero is a social enterprise dedicated to preventing waste and improving sustainability in the workplace. We focus on teaching waste prevention and zero waste mindset, providing a range of information, tools and services to help owners and managers to reduce their waste footprint. We aim to give our clients the encouragement, support and skills needed to evaluate information for themselves and make sustainable business choices moving forward.
Our dream is to get every company in Scotland to write a Sustainability Policy as a first step on their journey to meaningful change.
